Together we all succeed

Upholding their promises to current tenants was Stafford and Rural Homes’ (SARH) priority, but our collaboration gave them the opportunity to have their own development projects too.

Not only is Housing Plus a social landlord, we also have a great wealth of expertise from which other partners can benefit.

The strength of our expertise showed when SARH appointed us as their strategic partner for development projects in Stafford Borough. As a vibrant, young social landlord, SARH had lots of promises to deliver to customers. This was their priority.

But when SARH committed to building new affordable housing, they needed a reliable partner with the right expertise to help them achieve the development of new sites. They chose us.

Karen Armitage, Chief Executive of SARH comments on their choice, “It was important to work with an organisation that had shared values, was geographically similar and able to provide the skills and development for our team.”

Besides allowing SARH to keep their promises to their existing customers, they benefitted from partnering with us in many ways as Karen explains, “Expertise and knowledge is shared on many subjects from Chief Executive to other key staff by working together and sharing ideas. We are certain this collaboration will provide good quality, new affordable homes and by sharing best practice we can deliver other innovative landlord improvements.”

Housing Plus will drive the development and assist with all the preparation in planning and funding applications throughout the coming year.

Karen adds, “This frees us up to continue the work on investing in our existing properties and increasing ways in which we can work with our customers to enhance our service to them.”

On the future, Karen notes, “We’re hoping this collaboration will prove highly successful and are looking forward to continuing this partnership whilst considering other ways we might successfully deliver services or procure in partnership in the future.”

Bill Martin OBE, Chair of Housing Plus is delighted with the collaboration and says, “It’s a reflection of the strength of our development team and the success it’s had in Staffordshire and Shropshire that we’ve been chosen for this important partnership.”

It’s a great example of how two organisations can really benefit the community and each other by coming together and pooling the best of their joint resources.
